The Living Tree International College of Midwifery is a distance course. Currently we are not taking on new students for clinical placement since we are gearing up to be out of the country at the end of May. However if you are interested in being placed with us just let us know and we will contact you with any openings.

The didactic is online, self paced, and intended for self directed study and for preceptors to instruct you on the practicum (hands on) portion of your training and for you to do all the book work with study talks or specific guidance from your preceptor as you need. Your preceptor is also able to log in as an instructor to work with you on your course work. We are available as well by email and phone to answer all your questions and guide your learning. This allows you to be more in charge of your education and NARM ready as long as you work with preceptors that have done 50 births as a primary midwife and have been in independent practice for a minimum of 3 years. You should get the CPM packet so that you can be getting signed off on skills as you go. When done you get the completion Certificate from us and the skills signed off with the preceptors you have chosen and then take the QE practicum with a skills evaluator. The last step is to write your exam. The course is also great for students who want to improve their knowledge in a particular area of study or brush up a bit on a topic. What is nice about the online course is if you are choosing to do the book work first you do not need to apply for your apprentice license in your state until you are ready to begin the hands on if you want to take that route. This is also nice for those who currently live where there are no options for apprentice licensing and allows the student to get started without any ramifications. This removes the risk of running out of apprentice time on that license as well since most states have a time limit.

We do not send out any materials because the course descriptions are online and all other questions we can answer by email or phone. The units must be paid in full before we send your password to get into the classes. The courses are paid on a slide scale basis to insure every student who wants to "feel out" midwifery or who needs a financial break can still work toward their dream.

Please don't hesitate to call us or email us. We'd love to hear from you and support you anyway possible.

The world needs as many midwives as it can get!
