Art of Birth and Wellness is based on the guiding principles of the midwifery model of care. This model includes:

Monitoring the physical, physiological, emotional and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle

Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling and prenatal care

Continuous support and assistance during labor, birth and postpartum period

Minimizing technological interventions

Identifying and referring women who require further medical attention.

This model not only provides good care for birthing women and their babies, but has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma and cesarean section. We see our role as that of guide and advocate for the birthing women, couple and family. This includes monitoring pregnancy, labor and birth, so as to recognize any abnormalities that signal further medical consultation.

We are here to help create an environment of openness and respect for the birth process by facilitating open communication with all involved. We honor and protect the needs of a birthing mother's and/or family's privacy, but we stay close at hand to monitor or support as needed or wanted. In addition to the services we provide for pregnancy, we also perform gynecological care after pregnancy.

I met Kamy through a friend who knew I wanted to have a home water birth. I was 8 1/2 months pregnant and switched from my mid-wife who couldn't do a home-water birth to Kamy. She made me feel at ease and I instantly trusted her. Now 5 years later she is the only mid-wife I will see. I told my husband that if we move out of town I will travel back and forth for my appointments instead of finding another mid-wife or doctor. I love Kamy and her crew.
